XENCE Receives Aichi Prefecture Grant to Develop Next-Generation Circular Timber Greenhouse™

Scaling Modular Architecture Through Unutilized Timber and Robotics

XENCE Inc. has been selected for the Aichi Prefecture "Innovative Business Creation" subsidy program (fiscal year 2026).

This subsidy supports privately-led innovative projects addressing social challenges. Projects selected under Aichi Prefecture's Innovative Business Creation Strategy are officially recognized as Aichi Prefecture Innovative Businesses.

XENCE was selected under the priority policy areas of "Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries" and "DX," and will advance the development of a new Circular Timber Greenhouse™ model alongside robotic automation technology.

    About the Circular Timber Greenhouse™

The Circular Timber Greenhouse™ is a modular structure built primarily from unutilized timber sourced from sawmills. Designed for applications ranging from agricultural use to tourism farms, educational facilities, and community hubs, pilot implementation began in Shima City, Mie Prefecture in 2025.

Priced competitively with steel-framed greenhouses, the structure achieves carbon-negative performance by significantly sequestering CO2 during construction. Designed for long-term use by leveraging timber's natural insulation, humidity regulation, and salt resistance, and engineered for material recovery and reuse after disassembly.

Using this grant, XENCE will develop a new greenhouse model and advance Computational Design and automated fabrication technologies using robotics, building a mass-production system for modular architecture using non-standard materials.
